Default cannot connect to .mdf database

I've installed the Microsoft Query program to try to use excel to attac
and Query an external .mdf database.

I'm using Data:Import External Data:New Database Query.....
Then I can't seem to find an option for *.mdf files?

I've learned that it is a Microsoft Query "Master Database File"

Thanks for any help accessing this database
