Default Office 12 new GUI

I don't know if anyone was at the MS developers' conference yesterday, but
this is both interesting and rather scary! There's a new gui for office 12,
and what looks like a totally new model for command bars.

I particularly like the screen shot of word with three new very large
toolbar buttons - Paste, Find and Proofing tools - taking up the equivalent
space of about 36 command bar buttons. I prefer Ctrl V, Ctrl F, and never
use the proofing tool myself.

Does anyone know how compatible this will be with XP, 2003 etc?

Robin,
Press reports state that MS will have a free converter that will upgrade
office 2000 thru office 2003 to the new configuration.
Office97 is not included in the converter. The obvious intent is to force
the huge group of office97 users to purchase the new version.
The topper being a new file structure for Office 12.
So developers/users either go along or get left behind.
I view it as a gamble on MS's part, as their plan to lead the sheep
to the new shearing ground could leave them without a flock.
