I actually had to make a change for the controlsource to be changed.

But what do you want to happen when the textbox does change?

If you're just trying to initialize the contents of the textbox when the
userform is shown, you could that in code:

Option Explicit
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Me.TextBox1.Value = Worksheets("sheet2").Range("a1").Value
End Sub

And remove that controlsource.

But what should happen when the textbox is changed? Where should that new value
be saved (if at all)?
