Default Wildcard

Is it possible to use wildcard entries in a custom sort list, if so how?
If not is there a way of codeing it so you can use the equivalent of
wildcard entries in a custom sort list.

For example my list is as follows:

Cheese Factory
Wine Merchants
Bread Factory

In my data to be sorted Wine Merchants is written as Wine Merchants
Limited if I was using for example the find function I would type in
Wine Merchants* is there a way of doing this for custom sort list.
Thanks.

James
