I presume you don't want a programming answer even though you are in a
programming group?

Protection in Excel is a two-part operation

1) Highlight all the cells you want entry in and select
FormatCells...Protection tab and de-select 'Locked'
2) Protect the sheet (ToolsProtectionProtect sheet...) enter a password if
desired

You will now be able to change the cells un-locked in step 1 and not any
other. In versions of Excel 2002 (XP) up, you can also set various things
that can and can't be done to protected cells.

If you really did want a programming answer, post back and I'll sort that
for you
