Default currency and textbox.

I formated the desination column and it puts it in and then I right
clicked to see what the format was and it still says currency and
decimal places 2 (which i want as well as the symbol however in the
sample area it is still showing the value as 13.99 and not £13.99.

any ideas? I have the same thing with the dates i have a user enter in
23/05/2005 and it does not reconise that it is a date.
