Is there a way to have a watermark in a cell? The watermark would be light
gray font, and the normal cell text would appear over the watermark.

Thanks, Phil

Just use wordart, and increase the transparency to suit, in the format
wordart toolbar

At least in Excel 2000 there is no way I know to put an image into the fill
of an individual cell. You can have a watermark for the entire sheet by
using the Format... Sheet... option on the menu, but it would be hard to make
that come out to have a particular mark behind a particular cell. Probably
the best way to do this would be to put a textbox (from the Drawing toolbar)
over the cell area: a textbox can have a background picture, i.e. watermark.
