Default microsoft query voids out spreadsheets

I often use Microsoft query to get results from data base files in our
company network. Once I do this I am not able to open up an email attached
spreadsheet. Once I close excel and go back to the email I can then open
the spreadsheet. Is there some sort of setting I can change so I do not
have to keep doing this?

Try Tools Options General and uncheck Ignore other Applications.
