Joe,
No, AFAIK. The basic file format has not changed since XL97. HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "Joe Black" wrote in message ... Hi, I want to know if there any way by which I can find out in what Excel version the xls file was created? Thanks in advance. |

Well, I don't know how it works or if it can help the OP, but if you create a file
in a newer version of Excel, and open it in Excel 97, you get a message commenting that it's being opened in an earlier version. Because of this silly message, I continue to work in 97 for one client. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ Bernie Deitrick wrote: Joe, No, AFAIK. Maybe fileformat would be sufficient????
Look at VBA's help (for fileformat) to see the list of returned values. Joe Black wrote: Hi, I want to know if there any way by which I can find out in what Excel version the xls file was created? Thanks in advance. -- Dave Peterson |
