USING AN .xla FILE TO STORE MACROS

I am now using only an .xlA file on the shared network drive. It i
never installed as an add-in (is there any disadvantage to doing this
Bob?).
When I execute a macro (via clicking on a macro icon in the Standar
Toolbar) and then want to edit the code, I key 'Alt+{F11}' and selec
the Module of interest and 'View Code'. I can then make any desire
changes and click-on the 'Save' icon to preserve those changes in th
.xlA file.

I would like to 'Step Into' a macro in the .xlA file. After openin
the Editor, I click-on the 'Continue' icon and the macro library windo
pops up; I select the macro of interest and click-on the 'Step Into
button. I then get the yellow arrow indicating 'Step Into' mode
however, I cannot get the macro to execute line-by-line by using th
{F9} key (although I can get the macro to run continuously between tw
code lines by clicking in the margin and inserting a brown circle nex
to each of the two code lines of interest). I would like to be able t
'Step' line-by-line between two brown circles.

Now installing it as an add-in won't give you any particular problems, but
it does mean that rather than Excel loading it automatically on startup, you
have to open it (un less it is in the XLStart directory), but that might not
be such a big deal to you.

Stepping through is {F8} not {F9} Does that solve it, as it should be no
different for xla's.
