Default looking at a cell before reffering to a table

Hi

I have cells in column "cost" that checks whats in column "item" an
checks in a table to find the cost: =VLOOKUP(Item,Q1:R12,2,FALSE), thi
works fine but I would like the cost column to look in the column "sold
first and if the letter N is in a cell then write 0 in the "cost" cell
also if the letter N is not in that cell I would like it to refer t
the table. Hope that made sense and somebody can help.

Thank
