Searching text lists
Hi
I have a list of company names in a column with associated data i other columns. I want to retrieve this data for only some of thes companies. The names in the list, as I have imported them from anothe source, may not exactly match any search terms entered. As an example: ADL PLC ADVFN PLC AEA Technology PLC AFA Systems PLC AGA Foodservice Group PLC AIM Distribution Trust (The) PLC AIM Group PLC AIT Group PLC AKAEI PLC AMEC PLC AMVESCAP PLC ANGLE PLC The search terms might be e.g. Amvescap or AIM Distribution Trust, no exactly matching listed cos. A search which returns the nearest match, which can then be manuall verified, is the solution I'm after. Can this be done in Excel? Thanks, Berti -- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com |
