Default Problems Using DSL to Post to This Forum

SidBord wrote:

I know this isn't the place to ask this, but I don't know
who to ask. I just got Verizon DSL 2 weeks ago, and when I
access the MS forums, I can't post questions or replys. I
go into a wait state: "Waiting for [url]" Other than
that, I can browse just fine. I have the same problem
with the Dell forums. I have no problems with the Smart
Computing forum.
Since I normally use Netscape, I thought maybe I should use
Internet Explorer. No change. Yes, I run Spybot and
Ad-aware daily, and I have used and turned off firewalls.
No effect.
Any ideas??

SidBord,

You should use a *proper* usenet program. The forums on the web are
just a (very limited) interface provided by Microsoft.

I think Netscape has newsgroup reading built-in, but I haven't used it.
Some people swear by Microsoft Outlook Express, others swear when they
see messages posted by an Outlook Express client.

And then there are the really good news programs. Some are good, some
are excellent. Some are free, some are shareware, some you have to pay
for. You can find most of them on http://www.newsreaders.com. To give
you an idea about the usage of different software on this newsgroup:

Top Newsreaders

Ranking Articles Newsreader
------- -------- ----------------------------
1 231 Microsoft Outlook Express
2 145 Microsoft CDO for Windows
3 94 ExcelTipForum
4 47 XanaNews
5 11 Forte Agent
6 7 Mozilla
7 6 MT-NewsWatcher
8 3 AspNNTP
9 2 Mozilla Thunderbird
10 2 Forte Free Agent
11 1 Xnews
12 1 Darth Vader
13 1 40tude_Dialog

And that's the stats for the past 30 days or so.

Once you have a newsreader installed, use it to connect to the server
msnews.microsoft.com. Et voila: free, high bandwith newsfeed directly
from Microsoft!

Probably your ISP also has a free newsfeed, but don't use it to connect
to the MS groups. Usually those mirrored feeds are incomplete or
lagged. But you can use your ISP for other newsgroups of course.

If it has an "X" in the name, it must be Linux?
Please don't thank me in advance. Thank me afterwards if it works or
hit me in the face if it doesn't. ;-)
