I have a user on a Windows 2000 machine with user rights.
The user is also running office 97. When he opens a excel speedsheet and Enable's Macros, he gets the following message; "Permission to use object denied". |

remove any files in the xlStart directory (except for personal.xls). Also
go into Tools=Addins, and uncheck any non-standard addin. If that clears up the problem, start adding back things one at a time and then close and start excel and until you find the one that is causing the problem. -- Regards, Tom Ogilvy "Shannon" wrote in message ... I've got essentially the same problem. Excel97 running under Windows XP.
When I try to open a workbook I get this dialog box: MS Visual Basic Permission to use object denied This happens whether I open from a floppy or from the file copied onto the desktop. The same file and floppy work on other computers. Opened XLStart, removed the only file there. Still no go. Opened a new workbook and looked in AddIns. Tried removing following add-ins, but received same dialog box for each. Conditional Sum Wizard File Conversion Wizard Lookup Wizard Web form Wizard Other suggestions? Thanks GaryG "Tom Ogilvy" wrote: remove any files in the xlStart directory (except for personal.xls). Also go into Tools=Addins, and uncheck any non-standard addin.
