Default lost double click ability to open files

Hi
try the following:
goto 'Tools-Options-General " and uncheck "Ignore other
Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel
1. Close Excel first and
2. On the Windows Taskbar
2.1 StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK.
2.2 StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.

After a disk cleanup I lost the ability to open any excel
file by double clicking the file icon. I have to get
excel program open then double click on the file to open
it. Went from 1 double click to 7 steps plus having to
wait for program/folders to come up. Excel program will
still start with 1 click. I have tried 'detect & repair'
and reinstalling whole office program.
Word and Publisher not affected.
.
