My problem is two pronged. Firstly, I need to be able to
reduce the saved file size (approx 2.7mb) to facilitate email distribution and website downloads, without losing worksheets within my workbook, and without losing formating (which is fairly extensive). Secondly, various users have been getting not enough memory errors. I understand that this is partially because of Excel's 64mb heap space. What else may be causing these errors, and how do I prevent them? All advice would be appreciated Thanks in advance. Stuart Bazzard |

An Excel file with data can easily exceed 2.7MB. In a corporation, Excel data analysis files often exceed 12 or even 20 MB. Excel should be able to handle these without difficulty
To efficiently reduce file sizes for distribution, a best strategy is to compress the files, for example, using WinZip. The ZIP file format can often effectively reduce Excel file sizes to 60% less or below It is in fact not normal for healthy computers to report the out of memory error during file save in Excel. As long as your computer got 128MB RAM or more, I have never seen a situation when Excel cannot handle an Excel file in any way on a healthy computer Solutions should concentrate on cleaning up the machine. Approaches include 1) Uninstalling and reinstall MS Office 2) Make sure all critical Office and OS patches have been installed 3) You got a clean Windows registry. (There are various registry cleaning utilities. 4) Defragmenting your hard drive to speed up disk access Regards Edwin Ta ----- Stuart Bazzard wrote: ---- My problem is two pronged.
