Default checking if an access database is open from excel macro

hi

i am using hyperlink to open an access database from excel. access d
has an autoexec macro. thus i want to check if an access database i
open and close it or possibly run autoexec. is it possible whithout al
tht DAO and ADO stuff. those things just go over my head. thanks fo
all you help
