Default File-Open import code available anywhere?

I have been trying to import a tab delimited text file using a vb code.
When I import using the File-Open text file it inserts correctly into each
column.
But when I try to input the characters manually via vb code I see lots of
vbTab characters
that I can not clean up and still have a tab delimited file.

Is the source code for inputting via File-Open method available to review
anywhere?
I would like to use it in a vb code.

thanks in advance
