Default Excel template file, where is it?

The default file is internally generated within XL.

You can override that by creating a workbook, formatting it the way you
want, with the number of sheets you want, etc. and saving it as a
template named "Book.xlt" in the XLStart folder. That workbook will then
be used to generate new workbooks.
