Default Conditional Formatting

Hi
I'm tring to fnd out if it is possible to add more than 3 conditions to any cell? (is there a way to write a formula that would do this? Or is there a way to applied one formula to 2 differnt true statements?
To give you an example: I have 5 differnt criteria. On, Off, AM, PM, Night. I have the defalt as Off in black. then I have the following in the conditional formatting "On" white background, "PM" yellow background, "Night" 40% gray background. Now, I need to add "AM"! Trying to add it to "On" with a "On" or "AM" in the format.
