Default checkboxes on userforms

Can anyone see the sense in why you can't customise the colour of the
little square in the middle on a userform. There's background and
foreground colour, but they only relate to the text surrounding the
checkbox.

On reflection I may change this to a toggle button - it will be clear
from my application which is on and which is off
