Default Is Excel Typlib backwards compatible?

I am using VB6 to control Excel. If I use the latest
version of the typlib, it is compatible with older
versions of Excel?

Thanks for any input,

The object library has things added to it at each new release.
Your best bet is to work with the earliest version that you will meet
in the field; later versions are backwards compatible and the reference
will automatically be updated.
