Default Can't insert form objects

Hi,
I was just working in Excel, as normal, and tried to insert
a drop down list from the forms toolbar, it did nothing. I
tried again, with different elements (button, etc) and it
did the same.

Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Were the buttons on the forms toolbar greyed out? If yes, your worksheet could
have been protected.

If that's not it, you may want to post the steps you did and where it failed.

Maybe you could prime the question with a list of the steps you use, and the
OP can say where his steps are different.

for me its:
Click on the control button in the forms toolbar (cursor turns to a +)
Rubberband the location on the worksheet (click, hold the click, drag) and
release the mouse (or is that three steps?)

If the sheet is protected, I can't click on the control button on the
toolbar and after trying to click, I can't rubberband on the worksheet.

Is it more complex than that? <g

Possible missteps (assuming the forms toolbar is actually visible)

1) fail to click on the control
2) fail to rubber band on the worksheet (drag but don't click; neither click
nor drag - just clicking will place the control)
3) fail to release the mouse
