Hi - (XL95 /Windows ME). I am trying to create a *Workbook* level name
"ChapterCalling", to which I will create a link in another workbook. But as soon as create it, it appears in the Names list as Sheet1!Chaptercalling - ie as a *Sheet-level* name. This happens regardless of whether I type it into the Names box at the top left of the screen, or whether I use "Insert - Names - Define" from the main menu, and I need it to be a *Workbook* level name for it to be compatible with the code that creates a whole series of Names programmatically, all of which work. Under the latter method it accepts it as a Workbook level name, and then jumps it to the prefixed Sheet1! version while I watch. It must be some debris from past activities - for some reason the same cell *will accept* , and hold, another Workbook-level name, but not "Chaptercalling" so I guess the question beomes "how can I vacuum the workbook of an old name?" Any ideas ?? Charles Jordan |
