Default Shell Command to initiate Linux program

Hello

I presently use the Shell command to start batch files in DOS. Works great.

Is there a way to use Shell (or something similar) to initiate a Linux
program on another computer in my network? The files and any programs on
the remote computer are directly accessible by url, similar to initating a
program on the resident computer.

Thank you

Wayne
