Default MVP Help please

Hi Martyn,
The best way to eliminate them is if your ISP will do it for you.
Check your virgin.net isp provider for filtering that they might
provide as part of the service. Having an actually account
you may find something at virgin.net -- I didn't but I would
suggest you use the "Contact Us" at your ISP and ask the
question of eliminating these spams after first doing your own
checking.

Through MSN, I received 777 of them yesterday, At midnight
I changed my options at MSN and cut down all of them and virtually
all other spam.

For MSN and Hotmail, but I imagine most ISPs have something similar:
http://www.msn.com signin with your email address, and to "hotmail"
(yes, even though it is MSN that is where you look), under options:
Junk Mail Filter,
[x] Enhanced (most junk is caught),
[x] Deliver to Junk Email folder at MSN (stays there) for examination, for
a period of time or space used, which was about two hours in this
situation. Meaning I would not likely see anything legitimate there
because it would already have been deleted from the junk folder.
For Hotmail the same http://www.hotmail.com signin with your email
addres and same as above.

I have filters for OE6 and I have MailWasher, but as I want to verify that
the spam is spam, I was not prepared for this so they were not set up
to automatically delete. With the ISPs filters in place there were no more
major problems. The ISP's must be really hurting though having to receive
and process all that garbarge but at least they don't have to send it on to me now.

You can install MailWasher, be very careful when you install filters don't
start by by deleting automatically. Make sure you spell your own email
address exactly for instance..

I know this isnt really in the right place, but ive been
using the forums allot recently and know you know most of
what there is to know and that you are very helpful. Ive
just been checking my email and i have a load of emails
from "microsoft" and "MS Net" with attachments
containing .exe's. Ive never known microsoft to do this
before and the reply email address is
which is dodgy as far as im
concerned. The email on the other hand is very authentic
looking albeit with nothing that coulndt be put in there
by a malicious sender. Any advice anybody??
Many thanks.
