Determining if a Add-In has been loaded from XLSTART
Hi Rob,
Thanks, that is great. We will give a whirl as a backup plan because you also mentioned "if we don't know the name". Actually, we do know the name of the add-in. Any ideas how we could determine if that is installed? Let me explain what we are attempting to do. Another xls file will have a button in a toolbar to perform an install or update. When the user clicks on it, we want to see if our XLA is installed. If our Addin is not installed (loaded via the XLSTART folder) then we will install the file via the web. Otherwise, if it is installed we can check the version and update the add-in if necessary. One thing we thought we could do is just check the XLSTART directory for the file but we have to check the registry to see where Excel is installed, if they have Excel 97 and Excell 2000 installed, etc. We thought there should be some collection or property we could easily check. Hope my explaination was clear. Thanks for the help, Karl *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com *** Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it! |
