Default Excel 2002 and Access 97

Recently upgraded to Excel 2002, but we're keeping Access
97 (too many users, don't want to convert dbs).

We have several applications that use code to retrieve
data from Access to populate Excel sheets. These fail
using the new version of Excel. Using an older machine
with the 97 suite is fine.

Also, we have a number of Access dbs with embedded pivot
tables that will not update using the new version of
Excel, and attempting to do so corrupts them so that
other uses (w/ all 97 software) cannot use them.

Anyone else experienced this? Got any potential solutions?
Thx,
SMW
