ExcelXP 10 times slower than 2000 on web queries.

I have a moderately large workbook used for stock analysis. It gets data
using web connect. Normally, it just gets a current quote by getting a web
page and parsing it for the last price. This all works fine. The problem is
in Excel 2000 the entire process takes 10 seconds (Win2K-SP3 or SP4).
However, using Excel XP (on either Win2K or WinXP) it takes 45 seconds to
2.5 minutes. The statusbar messages indicate it's stalling on the web
connect portion.

Any ideas. Are there changes or new settings in ExcelXP that could cause
this?

Terry,

Try clearing out the current users temp files. I have
noticed that this can severely degrade the speed of
objects contained in your worksheet, so it may also be
something to do with the errors that you are experiencing.

The location of teh excel temp files from memory is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER\Local Settings\Temp

Give it a whirl..
