Disable read only
It's quite possible that a file is set to read only
because of network security settings, or because someone else has the file open. If you are supposed to have full access to the file, then you can remove the read-only setting from Windows Explorer. Right-click the file, select Properties and uncheck the Read-Only check box. If you can't do this, then you don't have the permission required and need to talk to your system administrator. -----Original Message----- Please could helpl with the method/code to disable read only access to a networked xls file (XP)? Thanks . |
Disable read only
Thanks Mike, appreciated. I probably didn't express
myself very well, as I am trying to prevent users accessing a read only version when a networked file is being edited. If somebody has the file open, other users will be advised of the files status and offered a read only version. It is this button I wish to disable. Thanks in anticipation, -----Original Message----- It's quite possible that a file is set to read only because of network security settings, or because someone else has the file open.
