Default data validation

How do you unlock cells so you can type directly into a cell that
contains a data validation pull down menu? What gives?

Default data validation

You will have to remove the data validation as it is using the 'list' option
which only allows selections from the list

DataData validation...clear all

Default data validation

If you have a data validation list, you can type a valid entry, instead
of selecting it from the list.
If you want the list, but you want to be able to type other values in
the cell:

Select the cell
Choose DataValidation
Select the Error Alert tab
--Remove the check mark from 'Show error alert after invalid data
is entered
--OR, in in the dropdown list for Style, choose Warning or Information.
