Default How to stop cursor from roaming around and not letting me click?

I open an existing Excel spreadsheet of mine and I try to click into a cell
and it has a white cross instead of the cursor arrow and appears to be trying
to scroll, highlighting as it goes. I can't even click on menu items or the
X to close. Have to use Task Manager to close. Would really like to edit
the spreadsheet.

Zan

Tap your wheel on your mouse a few times or try re-applying the drivers

It was very odd...but I finally fixed it by Protecting the sheet and then
Unprotecting it. Upon reopening the spreadsheet, I had to make that change
before clicking anywhere in the sheet.

Thanks for your help.
