I have address labels in an excel file and am trying to make corrections. I
get an error message, read only file. How do I do away with the "READ ONLY" and how did this come about. I also want to save it to a CD-RW disk. HELP |

Read-only can come from a few different sources.
1. If the file was burned to CD it will be read-only. Change its attributes in Windows Explorer after you have copied it back to Hard Drive. 2. Could have been saved that way under FileSave AsToolsGeneral Options "read only recommended". 3. Excel crashed while that file was open. This would leave a *.tmp file in tour Temp folder. Re-boot first, then clean out you Temp folder. A warning here...........do not save to or open files directly from removable media. Can lead to corrupted files. Save first to Hard Drive then copy to CD Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Sat, 1 Jul 2006 10:20:01 -0700, Donna Mae <Donna wrote: I have address labels in an excel file and am trying to make corrections.
