Default Text not wrapping within a cell

I have a column of cells that have been set to "Wrap Text". For most cells,
it works just fine. But in a few cases, there is a lot of text within the
cell. And when that happens, I see the first dozen or so lines of text
doing an automatic "wrap"... but then the rest of the cell does not wrap!

It almost seems like there is some "magic maximum length" for wrapping,
after which the text will no longer wrap. When I cut the single cell into
multiple cells, it once again wraps correctly!

Is this an anticipated result? And is there anything I can do to get longer
cells to continue wrapping? I've tried AutoFit, and Wrap Text, and a few
other formatting options, all with the same result. (FWIW, I've even tried
merging multiple vertical cells into a single cell, but the Wrapping quits
at exactly the same place.) No text gets "lost"; it's all still there.
Only the Wrapping stops.
