Default Custom Trendlines y=x

Hi guys,

I'm trying to add a custom trednline to some data and for some reason
its not working. I want a y=x line that goes through my data and not a
line of best fit. No matter what I do, I am only getting a line of best
fit.

What I want:
A y=x line that goes through the point (0,0).

What I'm doing:
Type in Y=x in custom. and ofcourse select custom and tick set
intercept y=0.

Please oh please help!!!

Thanks in advance!

Default Custom Trendlines y=x

Hello:

If I understand the custom box you are using just refers to the name assigned to the
trendline. The only option is to set the intercept to zero. You cannot set the slope
to one.

Anyway what you want can in no sense be called a trendline. To do what you want try the
following. (Just don't ask what you will have when you are done.)

Plot your two columns of data.
Send add the following two sets of data to an area of the spreadsheet:

X's Y's
0 0
Max X's Max of Y's

Now right click on the chart and cho0se source data.
Under series box choose add
Now for the Y choose the two values( 0, Max Y) and for the
X choose ( 0, Max X) each from the cells where you have stored your
values.

This will plot two data points on the graph. If you wish you can format the original data
with points and no line and format the second series above as line without points. You should
have what you want.
