Default email from excel 2003 is not sent unless outlook 2003 is open

I have a common work book on a server that is set up for users to logon using
a remote desktop protocol pointed to the excel exe enter daily use data, each
user has there own profile set up on the server. After making changes the
user is to email the work book to a set of recipents. Unless the profile is
logged on to as the user from the logon screen (not simply the rdp pointed
at excel) and outlook is then opened the emails that were sent from inside of
excel will sit in outlooks out box going now where. I can any one help me
with this or offer an alternative?

Thanks
