Default Problems updating shared documents which used "Lookup" function

I have set-up a home office network (Windows XP), everything is working fine,
see all shared folders on source and slave computers, printer working fine.
However I have an excel workbook, which is link to two ther work books to
"LOOKUP" info and enter the relevant detials for the searched fields.
However if I for example change the price for a part in the parts work book,
and then enter the part number on the invoice work book, the orginal price
will only be picked up, this only happens on the salve computer (the one
which is picking up the shared file from the source computer). When I open
the files on teh slave computer it asks me to find the link and re-connect,
which I do, but it will not pick up any changes I make to the works books -
