I posted this previously but have not received any advice. Can someone let
me know if I have worded it badly so no-one knows what I mean or if it's not possible to import data from an Access database which has had user-level security applied, or should I be posting this in the Access dislcussion group, even though the problem is in Excel........... I have a spreadsheet which refreshes from data in an Access database. I have had to put user level security in the database & now the link to it has stopped working, it says I do not have access. I assume I have to change something in the OLE DB Query, I have tried putting the File name (including the path) after the System Database but it still does not seem to work. I have tried various passwords but nothing seems to refresh the data. There will be a few users who will need to refresh information, they all have their own passwords to access the database. Can someone please help me Thanks Sharon |

I am having exactly the same problem and have posted mine in the Access area. As far as I know, if you go into Permissions of the database and allow the ADMIN user to administer the database, then the link between access and excel is restored. The problem with this is, there is then no security on the database as anyone can just open up the MDB file without a password. I am trying to get round this myself as I do not want to use the ADMIN user at all in Access. Hope both our posts get answered! I'll try permissions as a temporary measure, but I don't want to allow anyone
access to the database either. Thanks for the info "baconroll" wrote: Sharon I am having exactly the same problem and have posted mine in the Access area.
