Is it possible to count specific words in a number of cells?
I am importing data from a survey in which some questions had multiple
options, when this is imported to excel multiple entries are seperated by commas in the same cell and this continues down the column. Is it possible to get excel to search cells for specific words within it and total their occurence? |

Is it possible to count specific words in a number of cells?
Hi, So, if you're looking for the word "Yes" in the range C1 through C11, you'd do the following. The * will look allow Excel to look for the word even if it surrounded by others. =COUNTIF(C1:C11,"*Yes*") Just change the range and the word. Hope that helps, SamuelT -- SamuelT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SamuelT's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=27501 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=552159 |
