When I've used copy and paste of text into a workbook followed by
Data-Text-to-columns once, excel seems to assume that every future paste of text also requires a text-to column conversion even when I don't want that to happen. How do I stop this occurring. thanks john bell |

You can close and reopen excel (yech!)
Or you can put some dummy data into a cell data|text to columns delimited uncheck all the options and finish up. Then clean up that dummy data in that cell. wraith_oz wrote: When I've used copy and paste of text into a workbook followed by Data-Text-to-columns once, excel seems to assume that every future paste of text also requires a text-to column conversion even when I don't want that to happen. Many thanks Dave. That behaviour has been really annoying me.
