Default Excel and the SAP Accounting Software

Is there any information out there on the possibility of Excel being able to
log into SAP and run SAP transactions (programs)?

I tried this before and couldn't get it done without someone customizing SAP.
( I assume you're using SAP R3) .

I had to live with just using the R3 office integration functionality (which
by the way did the trick quite nicely)

Depends of course on what you want to do.
