Bob phillipps answer for counting text
Thanks bob that formula does work to count occurances of text. Would a
variation of that work to count multiple words in a range (one formula) so the total shows in one cell? Also how would I add a "not" to exclude some words within individual cells? any ideas anyone? steveo |

Try... =SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(MATCH(Range,{"Text1","Text2","Text3"},0)) ) or =SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(MATCH(RangeX,RangeY,0))) ....where RangeY contains your list of words. Also how would I add a "not" to exclude some words within individual cells? any ideas anyone? steveo Not sure what you mean. Can you provide an example? |
