Default Resizing cells

Is it possible to resize just one cell within a column and not the entire
column?
I cannot figure out how this is done.

Hi Lyn,
You can merge one cell with other adjacent cells.
Type "test" in cell A1. Highlight cells A1 and B1.
Go go Format Cells... Algnmnet and check the Merge cells box.
Regards.
