If I merge say Cells A6 to G6....and format the area for text alignment top
left and autowrap selected.......
I find that although the text I chose to enter (can be several sentences),
appears fine when in the merged cell area.....when I click ou of the
area.....I get a string of "#############".....clicking back into the cell
area reveils the text again...... I have tried adjusting cell column
widths but this doesn't help.....I have searched online help.....no
joy.....any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would strongly recommend not using merged cells, it is hardly ever
necessary but it will almost always cause headeaches in one way or another,
however if you format the cell as general instead of text you might avoid the
####
