I have a column of data in Excel that has conditional formatting, color
filling, based on cell value. I need to highlight a cell, not the
entire row, in another column the same color as the column with the
conditional formatting on it, but the two columns are not mathmatically
related. Suggestions?

Use that other cell in the format|Conditional formatting formula.

You can use one cell as the basis for the conditional formatting for a different
cell.

How about copy the cell that has the conditional formatting in.

Go to the destination cell, right click paste special format OK.

Any help?

Thanks for the input, but that wouldn't work because the conditional
formatting in the first column is based on the cell value. when you
copy paste special formats the conditional formatting will evaluate the
values in the new column, consequentyly the two columns will not be
color coded the same.

Use a formula that anchors the column in both columns:

In C2:
=$a2=6

The row will vary with the selection, but the column reference won't change.
