Default How do I get leading zeros in zip codes in a mail merge

I am trying to create mailing labels. Leading zeros show in my excel
spreadsheet, where they are formatted as a 5 digit zip code. However, when I
create the merge, the zeros disappear. I have tried reformatted as text but
that does not work either. I am using Word and Excel 2003.

Please Help.

Debra Dalgleish posted this to a similar question about formatting
dates/decimals.

There's an article on the Microsoft web site that might help you:

Answer Box: Numbers don't merge right in Word

And if you prefer the old Mail Merge helper, Word MVP Suzanne Barnhill
has instructions he

about half way down the page.
