I have a spreadsheet. Whenever I open it, 2 copies open -- name.xls:1 and
name.xls:2. If I close one, both close. Driving me crazy, it is. It must have something to do with the Window command but I do not see how to retun to a simple life with 1 instance only. |

Press Window on the main menu, then Arrange and choose (for example) Horizontal. Click on the Excel icon on the xls:2 sheet and
press Close. Hans "greenwellies" skrev i en meddelelse ... I have a spreadsheet. Whenever I open it, 2 copies open -- name.xls:1 and name.xls:2. If I close one, both close. Driving me crazy, it is. had same question once; you accidently clicked on new window: just click on
2nd "X" down on top right (smaller grey - x) will give you more direct control over which window is closed "greenwellies" wrote: I have a spreadsheet. It's not really two copies. It's two windows open to the same workbook.
Select the window you want to close and hit ctrl-w. Then save the file. (I think it's easier using ctrl-w than explaining which of the X's you should click to close the which window.) greenwellies wrote: I have a spreadsheet. Hi, Green, would agree there are good points for using any method.
advise some caution for example: if have two windows open for same instance of an excel file, have noticed that (in "at-least") one case of personally modified colors (had used formerly dark colors to add more light tones) & sheet had gone mostly black on one of the instances. closing the wrong window will let you save the undesired window. Where Cntrl-W does not discern up front positive / negative logic (which window are you closing, which are you keeping...) is more dangerous a thing to have even been included in the software. I have already found some of the other things that get blown away... sorry, thought you should know. (check for changes, maybe close the 2nd instance) "greenwellies" wrote: I have a spreadsheet.
