Default Putting many pictures in an Excel Spreadsheet

I want to show pictures in an Excel spreadsheet. I would like to either embed
a picture in a single cell that could be enlarged as need to view. If that is
not possible I would like to embed a link to a jpeg file that could then be
clicked on to open that file. Any ideas about how this could be accomplished?

I am using Excel 2003.

You might consider inserting the pictures into the comment boxes of cells,
and they will pop-up as the cell is moused over.

Tom,
You could put a hyperlink in to any file including a picture file, by
selecting the cell and hitting Ctrl K. Then find the file you want to
link.
Alternatively, to insert a picture into a comment, create a comment
(Shift F2), delete any text and then right click the comment and choose
Format Comment/Colours and Lines/Fill Section/Color/Fill
Effects/Picture.

Chuck,

Thanks for your reply. I like this idea

I tried it but once I went to the insert/picture/ menu I was unable to
access the file from that menu. The only item it will let me insert is an
organiztional chart. I also tried to copy the picture and went to edit the
comment box but found the "paste" option unavailable. Do you have any hints
on how to insert the picture into the comment box?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom.........
To insert a picture into a Comment Box, first select the cell of interst,
then Right-click InsertComment backspace to eliminate any existing text,
then Left-click on the border of the Comment Box where the cursor becomes a
cross, then click on the arrow next to the FillBucket, then click FillEffects
PictureTab SelectPicture.....browse to find a picture file, then OK

OK.......then ou can grab a cornet haldle and resize the picture as desired,
then click off on any other cell. Now, when you mouse over that cell, that
picture pops up.........cool.

Clivey:
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried both methods.
1) The Hyperlink appeared, but when I click on it I received a pop-up
stating "Can not open specified file"

2) When I used Fill Effects, I found the picture, chose it, but only the
name of the picture's file showed up, not the picture itself. I then clicked
on "Insert" but the picture did not appear in the Comment Box.

Any suggestions.
Thanks for your time,

Tom

Excel are you using?........BTW, I do not see the option "Inset" anywhere on
any of the menu path I described to you.........where are you seeing it?

After you select the picture, forget the "Insert", just click on OK over on
the right side of that pop-up..........then OK on the next pop-up.....then
the picture will go right into the comment box......
