Default 'filename' not a valid web archive

Hi there

I was wondering if someone could help me:

I've got this MS excel file that I'm downloading from a website - it
downloads fine but when I go to open it, it pops a message up saying:
'applications.xls' is not a valid web archive - am wondering what I can
do to remedy this?

many thanks

Adam
