Default Countif - recognition problems with dates


=COUNTIF(Pitches!$C$15:$C$67,"<=Pitches!B5+3")

Im trying to get countif to recognise dates that are less than three
days away. B5 is todays date..

Any suggestions on where I am going wrong?
